Review of Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003) by Camille L — 07 Mar 2010

I know what you're thinking - this movie has the makings of disaster written all over it. But don't be fooled! This is one of those minor gems that managed to slip through the cracks. It was released between 'Elf' and 'Cat in the Hat' during the Holiday Season of 2003 and was largely ignored. Unfortunate since this film is a lot of fun for all ages.

Director Joe Dante called this film his "anti-Space Jam" because he believed that movie did not capture the true spirit of what the Looney Tunes were about. Well, I think Dante knows what he's talking about, because this film easily surpasses 'Space Jam' and the humor is reminiscent of the classic Looney Tunes shorts we all love. But the film is also set in the modern-day and a few jabs about the movie business and political correctness are quite a hoot.

The story is very silly, but you wouldn't expect a Looney Tunes movie to take itself seriously would you? It's all in the spirit of the Looney Tunes.

So if you're a fan of these types of lighthearted comedies, this film is an awesome choice.
