Review of Looking for Richard (1996) by Grant M — 24 Aug 2008
It is a pleasure to watch an actor that I am passionate about; Al Pacino, doing what he is most passionate about; performing Shakespeare. He succeeds completely in bringing to life the work of the Bard, as well as outlining the difficulties in bringing Shakespeare to a modern audience that often doesn't understand the complexity of Shakespeare's language.
It is unlikely that I will ever see Al Pacino on stage but seeing him approach the craft of acting on one of the Bard's most complex plays is a rare treat is probably as close as I will ever come to doing so, and is therefore a rare treat.
