Review of Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World (2006) by Ana M — 13 Sep 2008
The basic idea for the movie could give way to a very entertaining comedy. However, there is never a moment in which the audience can feel pushed forwards into the "drama" because there is no real opposition to the conflict faced. In fact, I believe there is no conflict, or at least none sufficient enough to prove that this piece can be a full length feature film rather than a short comic sketch.
The performance by Albert Brooks falls a lot under the self-mocking and pathetic fellow- played many wonderful times by master Woody Allen- only, Brooks falls into a very boring and flat state. In other words, his act gets a little too old very soon into the movie... Although, there are a couple of funny jokes!.
