The interplay between the snobby purebred and the streetwise mutt is hysterically funny. "Doggy snacks" to the trainers, who were able to get the dogs to behave on cue with the perfect gestures and facial expressions. More doggy snacks to Danny DeVito and Diane Keaton, the canine voices. The first film had maybe a shred of realism to flavor its romantic comedy. This one looks like it was chucked up by an automatic screenwriting machine but it's still a mildly amusing ans entertainment. David Gallagher and Tabitha Lupien are stellar as Mikey and Julie, and deliver performances as well as or better than anyone can expect at their ages.

VERDICT: "Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theatre or buy an ex rental or a cheap price the DVD to own.
