Review of Longtime Companion (1989) by Neville K — 15 Nov 2007
An important film but not necessarily a good one. It's like a gay, 80s, 100 minute long soap opera with no real melodramatic weeping moment. I wanted to like it more than I did, but only drawn to one of the major characters and he was the one to get nominated at Oscar time.
The casting was off, and yes, it felt like everyone (minus 2 guys) who was gay in New York City died of AIDS. A little heavy on the meloadrama, maybe?
