Review of Long Weekend (1979) by Terror A — 07 Oct 2007
I've been wanting to see this cult Aussie horror classic for a while now and finally after watching it, I agree with everyone that this is a terrific film. This is a well acted, beautifully filmed, creepy and very eerie film that more in the vain of "Picnic At Hanging Rock" than say Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds", although it is just as chilling.
Briony Behets and John Hargreaves are both great in the two leads role as a bickering married couple, the direction is nicely done, the script is well written (it explores the downfall of a marriage and as well after all the things that we as humans have done to nature, what if nature to revenge on us) and there are some really chilling scenes.
A very underrated and little seen gem that pretty much puts most modern horror films by showing how it is supposed to be done. Check it out!
