Review of Long Time Dead (2002) by Rav M — 14 Jun 2007
If you were fed up of seeing horror movies featuring American high school kids invovled in drink, sex and death, then find solace in this genuine British horror flick. Britain seldom produces many good horror movies.
But 'Long Time Dead' is one of the best and most underrated British flick of its kind. It tells of a group of friends who play a Ouija board for fun, little knowing that their dalliance has triggered a spate of murders among them.
Unlike many American movies, this film features an all star young British cast (particalarly Marsha Thomason), playing out roles very similar to the everyday experiences of British students - being drunk and regretting what you did afterwards.
Despite it being an everyday horror convention, using the storyline of a Ouija board also made the film come to life, giving us a welcome break from the 'murdering people for fun' stroyline that dominates horror.
It is thoroughly cathartic and truly unmissable. This is a welcome relief from the bland American teen horror flicks. If they want to make a decent horror movie, they should ask the Brits! We do them better!
