Rogen's humor is not demented, irreverent and politically incorrect: it is as vulgar, coarse and scurrilous as that of the Farrelly brothers in the most ineffective moments of their filmography. That gag of "There's Something About Mary" (1998) was stupid then and remains so even after more than 20 years. Therefore it is dysfunctional to a romcom, which moreover spends more time winking at Capra, "Beauty and the Beast", "Pretty Woman" and reselling the joke about the declassification of the Kennedy murder (already used twice by Bay) than to seriously believe in itself.
