Review of Lonely Hearts (2006) by Roberto M — 29 Jul 2007
Upon realizing I had just paid to see another "true to life account" of a Hollywood crime story, I suddenly started to entertain myself by looking at the scratches on the cinema screen canvas.
After the first five minutes, however, the thought suddenly crossed my mind that this could possibly have some potential.
Salma Hayek gives a transcendental performance as a more than psychopathic, jealous lover/partner of an already corrupt gold-diggin smooth-talker. Their relationship gives a notable case in point of what could possibly happen when two very bad people form an intimate relationship while their "love" (or more appropriately co-necessity) turns into something even more dangerous than what it already is through the implications of jealousy and resentment.
I would like to note that had it not been for Salma Hayek's performance, I most probably would have not even bothered to so much as watch the opening credits.
Not bad though.
