Review of Lonely Hearts (2006) by Eric P — 23 Dec 2007
What a weird movie. I mean...honestly! the two sets of characters are loosely connected at best. the context is more or less explained as the film drags to a conclusion, but there was little for me to grasp.
Neither visually stunning, endowed with stellar acting, or wholely captivating, the film left me sort of hovering above the ground. it met its unfortunate demise in one question--where was the movie? the story barely manages to get off the ground before it runs out of energy and crashes to the end.
rather like a bottle rocket, lonely hearts had glimmers of moments, was pretty for a second and disappeared before it has a chance to reel in an audience. the two best moments, one is a look from jared leto and the other is a line from salma hayek, come near the end--too late to save the movie and not close enough together or far enough apart to convince me that the movie was worth rewatching to catch missed details.
I don't think I would recommend this to anyone, but it wasn't awful. :-/.
