Review of Lone Wolf McQuade (1983) by Craig C — 04 Aug 2007
The greatness of this film cannot be condensed to a block of text - rather watch the films that ripped it off: Kill Bill, The Rookie, Roadhouse & Hotshots and absorb these classic lines of dialogue:
Villain 1: Once a Texas Ranger kicked my fathers teeth out, would you do that to me ranger?
Chuck: (after a scuffle) Like father like son.
Chasee: You can?t outride me Ranger. I've got a supercharger.
Chuck: Oh yea? Super Charge this.
The kid (after Chuck returns from certain death): Ranger? Damn it!! Don?t die on me now. Don?t die on me know Damn it!!
Chuck: Get me beer kid.
But the real winners here are Chuck?s dress sense and the films soundtrack (which makes it real easy to follow the story. E.g. ominous beats - he?s a villain. Upbeat anthem - he?s not a villain. Upbeat trumpets there?s going to be a fight or the good guys are winning, downbeat trumpet - the good guys aren?t winning or something bad is going to happen).
