Review of Lone Survivor (2013) by Lee D — 28 Jul 2014
I didn't have much anticipation to see lone survivor at first but only because it didn't really have a lot of hype connected to it so it kind of flew under the radar. as I heard more about it once the film was released I became more and more interested to check it out but I wasn't able to catch it in the theaters.
once it came out on DVD I was able go grab a rented copy. I must say I've never seen a more brutal war film in my life. there's such an honesty in this film in regards to the conditions that tholS navy seals have to go through.
from training to the desperate conditions they may have to endure whilst out on a mission. we get a good emotional connection with each of the primary characters with which we make this journey and each of them show a great amount of dedication to both their duties as well as each other, something I would bet is common place with any dedicated Navy seal.
the main setting of the story and the events tied with it are very straightforward and rarely stray on any tangents. the primary conflict that ensues after the initial setup is one of the most constant and heart stopping theatrical pieces I have ever seen.
while other war films may focus on a long drawn out conflict this one has a very contained and personal setting. its amazing to see what these men went through and what they sacrificed for what was supposed to be a very cut and dry small scale operation.
All in all I can say I enjoyed lone survivor for what it presented. t language is rough throughout and in some areas it felt somewhat justified but mostly I felt it could have been toned down in most places but I'd dare say it was probably very true to reality for the most part.
so I'd say if you enjoy an honest film that shows what our military goes through then you need to check this one out.
