Review of Lone Survivor (2013) by Julian H — 20 Jul 2015
Even though the two storylines are completely different, I couldn't help but think to compare Lone Survivor with American Sniper. While American Sniper didn't live up to the hype I'd heard for it, Lone Survivor was way better than I thought it was going to be.
While the acting and cinematography isn't as polished as the other, Lone Survivor is gritty and gory at times, unrelenting in showing the brutality of war. While it still glorifies the American soldiers fighting to survive, it doesn't glorify them for their killing skills but for their humanity.
And on the other side, it also shows that their enemies are not all evil and heartless either. Lone Survivor sends the kind of message that American Sniper should've sent. Take a perspective on the war in the Middle East, check it out.
