Review of London Boulevard (2010) by Greg R — 27 Mar 2011
Ray Winstone may be my favorite English strongman working today. His screen presence is so unbelievably strong that he envelops everything around him like some cinematic black hole. He is always incredible, and this film is no exception.
As for Colin Farrell, he may not have a tremendous amount of range, but like one other big name actor that I won't mention *coughLeonardoDiCapriocough* the films he chooses are so consistently great that I'm willing to overlook his weaknesses.
Make no doubt about it - I love British gangster movies. It's one of my favorite little genres, and I loved this one. As far as I'm concerned, Ray Winstone can shout me to sleep every night of the week.
Vulgarity is never so pretty as when it comes from the sharp tongue of these hardened criminals. This was a fun film.
