Review of London Boulevard (2010) by Mayank F — 29 Jun 2013
LONDON BOULEVARD is one lousy movie. I love a bad movie so the negative reviews got me into the theatre. I always hope for a pleasant surprise, one where I say "critics are fucked... this is brilliant!" So such luck with this one.
LONDON BOULEVARD is so inept, I don't know where to begin. It's one of those films where you think, have these people ever seen a movie before? Clearly they have. The film is filled with Oscar nominees and directed by Academy Award winning writer William Monahan.
But it's just a big mess--uneven performances, 60s soundtrack that makes no sense, and dialogue that tries way too hard to be "real." Then the movie is sliced, diced, and edited so badly that it feels like someone took hundreds of scenes, threw them in the air, and then pasted them together randomly.
LONDON BOULEVARD is really that bad, and not fun bad, just bad. First time director, Monahan, will hopefully have better luck with his next film BECKET.
