Review of Lolita (1962) by Johanna S — 03 May 2008
This movie was alright, but after reading the book, it was a letdown (no one's ever said that before, I know). The book is MUCH creepier, and the volume of creepiness is turned way down in the film.
The creepiness is what makes the story... that H.H. is a vile, disgusting, disturbed pedophile, but that, to our surprise and almost unbeknownst to us, we come to sympathise with him.
