Review of Lola's Love Shack (2013) by Pedram S — 25 Aug 2015
This movie is funny. Period. Although much of the humor in this film is directed to a Chicano viewer, the hilarity of this movie is not limited to only that culture. The raunchiness of this film is reminiscent of horny, desperate-for-booze high school days that everyone lives through.
The only thing I disliked about this film was the distracting cinematography. Many close ups throw the actors out of focus, some exteriors shots casted harsh shadows on the actors faces which made them difficult to see, and certain shots were evident with moire patterns on Beetle's clothing and in one case the roof of Sharky's house.
Altogether though, there were many more awesome shots where the DP did an excellent job like the banda scene at the end, and the car scenes. This movie, despite the relatively low budget surpasses a typical "raunchy frat dumb boys" type of movie.
