Review of Lola (1961) by Arin D — 22 Oct 2008
Anouk Aimee stars, Agnes Varda does a background song (for Lola), Michel Legrand does music, Demy directs, Ophuls produces. With that kind of a pedigree, this would have been mythical, but it's really a bit underwhelming for the director of 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg'.
That city gets mentioned a lot in this little intertwined tale of old flames reigniting.. Slightly stilted acting at points, but entertaining, I guess.. Demy has done better.
