Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Jon G — 13 Feb 2008
The futuristic dome city is, unmistakably, a shopping mall. The soundtrack destroys all other soundtracks, serving no other purpose than to sound futuristic, mid-70s style. My favorite is the robot who lives in an ice cave and freezes people in ice walls in the cave, which is inside a hill right next to the summery outdoors, which supposedly underwent ecological disaster despite the luscious greenery.
The special effects budget was obviously reserved for the Washington D.C. monuments, covered in that same luscious greenery, which looked fairly decent, but the miniature sets look like a Tyco commercial.
I wish I liked it more than I did, but I don't dislike it either...worth a viewing, for the ice robot dude and gratuitous nudity if nothing else.
