Review of Logan's Run (1976) by Chad H — 24 Jan 2011

I just have to say one thing about this movie, and that is more along the lines of a personal issue. But to me this movie was a let down. It was very uninteresting and bland. The whole plot surrounds this idea that everything you know is perfect. The "force" gives you everything that you'll ever need. The one catch is when you turn thirty, you are sent to this thing known as "carousal" which by the movie is known as "renewal". The plot itself is interesting which is a great thing. However, the movie does a rather poor job of keeping up with itself. As the plot continues, it just grows to be more of a task to get through this movie; and I feel that when a movie becomes uninteresting enough in which that your mind is continuously wandering off when its not supposed to, and when it becomes hard for you to regain your focus on the movie; then the movie has failed its duty to entertain.

Towards the middle of the film, we exit the city and it is at that point in which nothing really happens until the end. Due to pop culture referencing this movie i.e. Family Guy; I expected much more from this movie. But to my dismay the movie was just a giant bore fest. I liked the plot of this movie a lot, it resembled that of the "Matrix" along with "Children of the Corn". The plot is what really saved this movie from being rotten. Personally, I felt that there was no real climax in this film, and that the rising action occurs when Logan leaves the city, but after that; that is pretty much all for the action except for a very small bit at the end.

But overall, I will recommend this movie for the science fiction type fan, if you are an action type of movie fan, chances are this movie will bore you. However, I do also recommend that you view this movie with an open mind, because of the different parts of symbolism that are involved with this movie. So all and all I give this movie a 60%, it could have been a little bit more polished; but it is still a decent syfy flick.
