Review of Logan Lucky (2017) by Riff J — 19 Mar 2018
Unbeknownst to me this was a Steven Soderbergh movie which explains my whoopsidusal expectations. Considering I thought this was a more hard comedy movie of Channing Tatums. I Pleasantly informed with the opening credits of Steven directing this I quickly realized I had to change my mindset and expectations.
With that said....a more serious theme with some usual comedy bits gave this a much softer feel of the Oceans Eleven franchise, set in texas on a much lower scale. I felt this movie was flat lining at times, but crafty scenes with some fun actors in unusual roles gave this movie a pulse and the ending certainly paid off! I was also pleasantly surprised to see Hilary Swank pop up in this film.
I wouldn;t mind seeing a sequel to this as it took the entire movie to build a kinship with the characters; a second one would be appreciated to see them reunite for another thrilling heist, much in the manor Oceans 13 played out featuring Hillary Swank in the Andy Garcia role of that movie.
