Review of Logan Lucky (2017) by Jorge V — 17 Aug 2017
Low brow comedy where the lack of true comedic dialog is substituted for with 'red necks talking like red necks'. That is enough to get laughs from some, but not in this case. All the characters are good actors, and the heist plot is legit, but the alternative plot lines of a divorced Dad and ex wife and daughter who is going to be in a beauty contest mess up the core of the movie with useless film scenes that are not interesting or funny.
Perhaps there is a decent movie in the heart of this film, but it takes too long and listening to red necks talk with an accent isn't interesting or humorous. Definitely not 'high octane fun'.
Wait for this to come to DVD if you feel the need to watch it. You won't miss anything on the big screen, and at least you can fast forward the DVD.
