Review of Lockout (2012) by Robert W — 11 Nov 2012
You'd think that "Lockout" would be another shallow, mindless action flick that's a lot more boring than it thinks it is, but you'd be wrong. While it is shallow and (to a certain degree) mindless, it isn't the least bit boring.
Guy Pearce makes a formidable and likeable action hero that stumbles his way through a handsomely-executed series of dangerous scenarios in order to escort the president's daughter (Maggie Grace) back to her father.
Of course, "Lockout" wasn't intended to be a critic-pleaser, but that shouldn't be used an excuse not to watch it. It's fun and charismatic, and despite numerous implausibilities and uneven CGI, it's an enjoyable affair that's rife with funny one-liners and tense action sequences.
