This movie says its based on an original idea from Luc Besson. However this is a rip off of Escape to New York, so it's really an idea from John Carpenter. And I think the weird characterization by the lead actor is a mutant homage to Big Trouble in Little China - also a Carpenter flick.
Also, the SFX look like it was boosted from an early Sega video game. So bad it's watchable.
