Review of Lockout (2012) by Jeramie K — 22 Mar 2013
For only being 90 minutes long, Lockout just never seemed to end. It was cheesy, over the top, cliched, and did its best to reach the 1 and a half hour mark.
On the surface, seeing actors of such quality as Guy Pearce and more notably, Lennie James, was a bit surprising. Lockout, in all of it's B-Action glory seems below actors of their caliber.
However, Lennie James brought much needed acting chops to the set and provided for a nice end-film twist that he delivered quite well. Guy Pearce also nailed the B-Action star role (or as best as he could) and delivered a lot of comedic relief to the role, which was greatly appreciated and almost necessary to ensure Lockout wasn't taking itself too seriously.
Overall it has some nice action sequences but is extremely cheesy and cliched. In the end, though, it remained very entertaining throughout. And for that, it receives a passing grade.
