Review of Lockout (2012) by Alex M — 28 Jun 2016
Not bad for an indie sci fi action flick. Its got plenty of interesting setups and action sequences to satisfy you for the 90 mins runtime. plus its got Guy Pearce playing a john mcclane type of anti hero who is actually.
..a pretty competant guy, with quite the sense of humor. it was genius of the writer to have the main character be this type of guy, who the audience could sort of relate with, as all this random and impropable stuff was happening around us.
maggie grace was also good, probably didn't hurt that she was nice eye candy. definately good chemistry between her and guy. if this weren't actually filmed with cameras and live actors, you'd think it was a cartoon.
from the endless implausibilities in the story and plot holes to the cartoonish characters, it's just very hard to take seriously. but I kind of like that, it's THAT kind of movie. and it's fun, as long as you're with snarky guy pearce and maggie.
the villains were laughable, and the stupidity of some of the characters in the movie are actually a little aggrivating, to me the viewer, but they all get whats coming to them eventually. watch it for the fun and sometimes silly action sequences.
it really is like die hard in space...just dumber, and with completely psychotic brits instead of calculating germans.
