Review of Lockout (2012) by Kwok L — 28 Jun 2016
Langral (Peter Stormare): I don't like hurting you, Snow.
Snow (Guy Pearce): Is that why you're having him do it?
Langral (Peter Stormare): I can have Rupert bludgeon you all night.
Snow (Guy Pearce): I'm being beaten up by a guy called Rupert?
I wasn't expecting much from this movie since the rating was low, but it's Guy Pearce and who can resist Guy Pearce? So, after watched it, I can honestly say, I liked it! I know, shocking right? I mean, granted, you have to completely suspend disbelief but that's pretty much a given on most action flick-- accuracy goes out the window. So with that said, I thought the movie was pretty actually funny and like I said I already love Guy Pearce as an actor, he's a very talented but underrated actor. He's a hell of a dramatic actor, so being in an action flick shouldn't be much of a challenge. What was actually surprising was that even Maggie Grace (who played the president's daughter, Emilie Warnock) was pretty tolerable and she did give a pretty decent performance; she wasn't at all annoying. So overall, the movie was pretty enjoyable for me and the conclusion a bit convenient but what are you gonna do, this wasn't exactly meant to be like "The Bridge on the River Kwai".
