Hardy definetly is a heavyweight in acting and he showed it numerious times. Locke was emotionally deep. Some would expect overacting, but Hardy portraied his character magnificently, being cool on the outside while one can imagine what is going on on the inside.
The all around atmosphere reminds me a bit of Drive, I'm sure Refn would like it.
