Review of Locke (2014) by Steven S — 11 Jan 2015
A different, unique film focussing on one character on a life changing car journey. The whole film is set within the confines of a car with the character's only interactions with other characters coming via his mobile phone.
That may sound dull but it serves to highlight what the protagonist is going through as he grapples with several life altering decisions - ones that will forever change his work & personal life. Tom Hardy is mesmerising in this movie.
He keeps you emotionally engaged with the character & you start to feel real empathy for the situation he finds himself in as he struggles to do what he considers to 'be the right thing to do' regardless of the personal consequences.
It's a credit to the sharp writing, directing & acting that this film holds your attention the whole way through.
