Review of Locke (2014) by Chris B — 12 Feb 2015

Locke is one of those movies that's hard to review. Lots of dialogue, little action. In fact the entire movie is one long scene that never stops. But the fact that it had my attention through the whole movie, without moving outside this scene, says a lot.

By the 10th phone call Ivan Locke, played excently by Tom Hardy, receives, you are like enough phone calls already! Let's see some action. By the 20th phone call your like ok, I'm obviously not going to get any action, yet I'm still intrigued.

It's a movie that makes you think. Did he do the right thing? What would you have done in his situation? Should his wife forgive him? Any movie that gets you to think is a plus in my book. It really is a dissection of the current life we live today.

And I think few would have made Locke's decision. Instead they would lie, cover it up, and never reach out to their one night stand. And here he is trying to correct the mistake. But has he gone too far? That's why this movie is so cool. You could ask these questions to a million different people and get a million different answers.

This movie will not be everyone's cup of tea. But if you want an emotional rollercoaster this is the movie for you. If you want tons of action and repercussions, don't rent the movie. The actions and repercussions do happen, you just don't see them. But in a way you can. You can definitely hear them, that's for sure.

That's what makes this movie stand out. One scene. Total drama. Lots of phone calls. I would recommend it for the mere aspect that I want you to think about all these questions too. That and the drama and great acting.
