Review of Locke (2014) by David L — 05 Apr 2015
Its premise and use of one setting only may seem boring to watch, but it really isn't mostly thanks to fine script, emotional intensity and Tom Hardy's terrific performance. Although the work problems get too much of the running time, the movie also manages to be interesting thanks to its inclusion as well as the protagonist's personal life and troubles regarding the marriage.
You never see the people he speaks to, but they nevertheless seem real and well developed and that is a sign of great screenplay and masterful filmmaking. Locke is not a movie for everyone, but it is a unique experience for those looking for some quiet and daring, realistic and very well acted character study and if you want to see how a person's life can change completely in just two hours.
