Review of Locke (2014) by Matthew S — 23 May 2015
Tom Hardy is a rare talent as we enter the new century. He is not only a brilliantly gifted actor, he has the charisma and presence of a true movie star. His performance is the reason this film works. However, even with a running time under 90 minutes -- Locke feels like 3 hours.
Certainly an interesting experiment to craft a movie that features one actor on a cell phone in a car. But, Steven Knight is never able to find a way to fully hold my attention after the first 40 minutes.
This is a feature length film that should have been a short.
