Review of Locke (2014) by Cade H — 22 Jun 2015
Locke was exactly like the Ryan Reynolds film Buried only way worse. Locke features Tom Hardy driving his car on the highway while talking on his phone via bluetooth, and that is the ENTIRE film. There are no car chases, no traffic, no moments of suspense or action, just a guy talking o n his phone for 90 minutes.
The premise could have been interesting had the storyline and his conversations been gripping, but they were not. He talked to his family, his work or his pregnant mistress and that was all. I kept waiting for something to happen, maybe a twist at the end or a surprising, shocking revelation and it never came.
I will give it to Tom Hardy for putting on an excellent performance but the film as a whole and for entertainment purposes was miserable. You have to be a special someone to find this movie enjoyable, maybe Tom Hardy's mother or his number 1 fan.
