Review of Locke (2014) by Ken S — 16 Jan 2015
Tom Hardy is magnificent as a construction foreman who discovers the night before a major project at work that the baby produced by a one night stand affair is coming two months early...so he drives to London and has to try and deal with the fallout of ditching his job, explaining the affair to his wife, and try to keep his sanity because he has decided not to avoid the baby like his own father did.
Hardy gives a very subtle yet intense performance, with the entire film focused on him driving a car. It doesn't cutaway to the people he is talking to, they are just voices. It is kind of exciting to see a movie with so few actors on screen, so few locations beyond the interior of one car, yet remain completely enthralling.
