Review of Locke (2014) by Timothy V — 21 Dec 2014
A slim plot with a whole lot of script and dialogues. Well, we only see Ivan, driving his car, but he get a lot of phone calls. A smart and very delicate film. The lightening is lovely, the atmosphere is good and the music score is very fitting. You can call it minimalistic, flat, repitative, but pay attention to it and enjoy it as a complex problem being hadled with. Then it's suddenly interesting, wide and very evolving.
"Twelve Angry Men" may be the only film that I've seen that's got a stronger case of great chatting than "Locke". It's got admirable character building too. A different film with a character that you just got to dig and admire. Yet again, Hardy delivers an amazing performance. Hands down, one of the best this year.
Captivating and rewarding film with a terrific central performance. This is Hardy's one man show.
8.5 out of 10 stearing wheels.
