Review of Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998) by Benedick L — 22 Feb 2010
12 years on and still as relevant today as it was back then. Starting with a nearly can't watch it card game and ending with a satisfying finale, this is the britain's answer to pulp fiction. The storytelling is genius; interweaving several story plots without overloading the viewer's mind and bringing them in when needed to give the story pace.
I am surprising myself that I have such high praise for a british film. Normally I would be critical of it. If you want to see modern british filmmaking at its best and know it hasn't been topped since, watch this film.
See this if you like having a good laugh, working out what a londoner says and enjoy good narrative.
