Review of Local Hero (1983) by Sanity Assassin ! — 01 Dec 2007
A drama with some light-hearted comedy. burt lancaster actually plays a fairly small part. most of it seems to centre more on the difference in lifestyle between the bustling american city and the scottish coast than the business deal that's going down.
I thought all the locals were going to object rather than just weird beach man! it's amusing but never quite goes anywhere and the ending leaves you feeling like it's all unresolved. it's very subtle generally and well I guess you'll like it if you're scottish, living in the city and used to prefer living in scotland.
best viewed on a sleepy afternoon when there's not much else on.
