Review of Local Hero (1983) by Noah R — 28 Jul 2009
What an effortlessly charming little film. In the hands of a lesser writer/director, this would just be contrived and predictable, but Bill Forsyth's penchant for Altmanesque character development elevates the premise to a whole new level.
Wonderfully acted by all, and it's especially interesting to see Peter Capaldi play such a nice guy after seeing him tear up the screen on The Thick of It and In the Loop.
