Review of Lizzie Borden Took an Ax (2014) by Roxanne R — 13 Aug 2014
I assume by now many are familiar with what has been named The Trial of the Century: the gruesome murder of the Borden couple at Fall Rivers, Massachusetts. The couple had two daughters: Lizzie (C. Ricci) and Emma (Clea Duvall).
Lizzie Andrew Borden was tried and acquitted in the 1892 axe murders of her father and stepmother. It is deemed the trial of the century because after her acquittal no one else was charged with the crime but after watching numerous films and reading a few books on the subject, it is my personal opinion that Lizzie Borden indeed murdered her parents out of anger and desperation.
I believe she got away with murder. The acting was good, the story does not go in depth about the relationship with the parents but Lizzie stated to her father that she did not wish to be married and he found that objectionable.
Overall it is an interesting film to watch, particularly because of the time period and the fact that not a single piece of evidence was linked to her saved her from prison. Available on Netflix instant streaming!
