Review of Living in Oblivion (1995) by Justin J — 05 Jul 2008
A rare film that the spectator simply wishes would never end. The most superficial of pleasures can be gleaned from the pot-shots taken at the process of independent film making; the more substantive pleasures are savored when we realize that all of these characters are trapped in a prison of, if not their own construct, then certainly of their choosing.
James LeGros' turn as "Chad Palomino" provides even more amusement when seen as a riff on Brad Pitt (with whom director Tom DiCillo had worked on his previous film, "Johnny Suede").
