Review of Living in Oblivion (1995) by Joel C — 11 Apr 2009
I'd never even heard of this movie, so I guess it lived up to it's title for me. This is a great little comedy, which looks at the trials and tribulations of a low-budget film director.
The characters are great, and Buscemi is delightfully... normal. The supporting cast brings some great presence to the screen, and the whole thing just works. Sure sure, it drags a bit here and there, but anyone who has ever had to deal with the personalities attached to film and/or theater will love it.
The humor is pretty dry, so don't rent this if you're a big fan of slapstick, etc... it is pretty subtle.
