Review of Living Death (2006) by Sonya T — 31 May 2007
Living Death... ultimately describing Kristy Swanson's film career. Sure, she caught our attention with Buffy the Vampire Slayer - but her attempt to re-emerge into the movie scene nearly 15 years later is just sad. The only reason we put up with her horrific acting as Buffy, was because there was enough vampire carnage to keep us entertained; keeping our attention focused elsewhere. It worked for her then, but not now.
Living Death unfortunately suffers from having no plot whatsoever, and spends more time on character development, and the whole "build up" to the inevitable climax that is not only unsatisfying, but boring. The first 15min gives us what we're looking for, as do the last 5min of the film. Everything in between is just pointless filler.
I also feel the need to warn anyone thinking of watching this film. The cover is extremely misleading, and the synopsis sounds more intriguing then the final result waiting inside. It's clear the 'Unrated' label is merely to lure you in, as there is nothing unrated about it.
I give it points for having an original idea which is reminiscent of an old Tales from the Crypt episode...but it simply just fails to deliver.
