Review of Live and Let Die (1973) by Jordan S — 06 Dec 2012
I am a huge Bond fan, and I truly love each movie for what each one is. That said when I rate Bond movies, I rate them against themselves and not the entire Hollywood movie population.
Live and Let Die is a solid Bond film. Enter Sir Roger Moore in the role of 007. He brings with him the charm that is now associated with the character. Bond has always been smooth and able to woo the ladies to bed. But Moore really has the most suave demeanor about him. As I said the film itself is solid, although nothing jumps out as great. The action sequences are good (aside from the end train fight scene which is great) and the story was only ok. The villians are definitely not ones you'll bring up when discussing your favorite 007 badies with your friends, but the over the top voodoo vibe they give will at least make them unique. In my opinion Domino is one of the best looking Bond girls to date and has an interesting role in being the main antagonist's fortune teller. Live and Let Die is a worthy follow up to Diamonds are Forever and a great start to the Roger Moore era. Definitely recommend this Bond adventure!
