Review of Live and Let Die (1973) by Skip U — 29 Jan 2010
The first Bond flick to feature Roger Moore as 007. Gotta say he looks great for 45. Overall pretty silly plot with pretty unrealistic scenes. But what the heck. When you combine voodoo, a beautiful Jane Seymour, maybe the most awesome boat chase scene ever with a blatant blaxploitation motif ("get that honky!") how can you not have fun? Character actor Clifton James was hilarious as usual in his usual role as a hick Sheriff.
And Geoffrey Holder as the spooky, voodish Baron Samedi was captivating. Gloria Hendry - well not so much good on acting, but very nice to look at. Despite its obvious flaws this is a must for any Bond fan.
