Review of Live! (2007) by Matt D — 11 Mar 2009
What could have been a dark and biting attack on the moral degradation of society, the modern media's share of the blame for it and the increasing obsession with reality television fails to go as deep as it could.
That said, it gets some points across well, the documentary style of shooting is a nice touch, Eva Mendes gives a surprisingly good performance as the morally bankrupt programming executive whose obsession with ratings drives her to create a show with Russian Roulette live on air, and the "game" itself has some very tense moments.
