If the director had spent just a little more time perfecting the performances and allowing the scenes to carry a bit more weight than they did, this could have definately been Oscar worthy. However, the movie was true to the book from what I remember, the scenery was breathtaking, and more than one scene made me blink tears just like the book did.
Beautiful movie altogether. I was glad that it did far from ruining the book like I had feared, which was the reason I had put off seeing this for so long. Worthy movie to watch again and again if you don't have time to read the book.
