Review of Little White Lies (2010) by C.s. R — 12 Sep 2011
If it weren't so uniformly well-acted, Little White Lies would quickly crumble under its pretentious, bourgeois characters. Director Guillaume Canet, a decent actor himself, does a fine job of pulling some impressive performances from his talented cast.
This proves key in allowing the audience to feel for the characters, whose lives seem somewhat trivial at times. Furthermore some of their situations don't feel entirely real, and as is often the case with such ensemble pieces, certain subplots feature too heavily while other more intersting narrative strands get overlooked.
Finally at over 2 and a half hours, the film is just too long, and will test your patience by its conclusion.
