Review of Little Shop of Horrors (1986) by Ryan V — 11 Jun 2012
Seymour (Rick Moranis) is a clumsy goofball who works at a failing flower shop. His fortunes change, however, when he discovers a mysterious and unknown plant (Levi Stubbs) that catapults him into celebrity.
Unfortunately, Seymour faces some tough decisions when his plant begins to demand human blood. This intentionally campy musical, based on Roger Corman's tacky horror movie, has more delightfully demented moments than I can readily calculate.
Its fun set pieces, used efficaciously by director Frank Oz, are superbly augmented by performances from Ellen Greene, Steve Martin, Vincent Gardenia, John Candy, Bill Murray, and Christopher Guest.
