Review of Little Nicky (2000) by Dean M — 06 Apr 2011
This comedy film in hell is bored and brings lack of laughs. Adam Sandler is a good actor although I do consider him an acquired tastes and this is definitely not his finest hour. Another problem is that the film looks incredibly ugly.
The production is awful. Hell looks, for lack of a better and less offensive term, retarded. There is around 3 sets I've noticed. Nicky's room, the entrance to hell, and the throne.
The cast boasts wasted cameos and small parts, including Rodney Dangerfield, Jon Lovitz (who goes to hell in the first scene), Reese Witherspoon in a remarkably cute role as Nicky's angel mother, Quentin Tarantino, Ozzy Osbourne and Rob Schneider. The duds for the most part get out of the way to make room for better things, including spot-on support from Harvey Keitel as a Devil Dad and Patricia Arquette as the design student love interest with no design sense. It's got a plot, effects and jokes. what more do you want?
