Review of Little Nicky (2000) by Bryan K — 19 Sep 2011
While there certainly are exceptional funny moments including many clever cameo appearances, this is the most misguiding of Sandler's movies. This not only has to do with the theme of hell on earth (not to mention several uncalled-for crudities and sex-related jokes), but also in its story.
The whole goal of the story, after all, is for Sandler's Nicky (the youngest son of Satan) to save his dad from dying. In other words, it makes Satanism look sugarcoated, in addition to making Heaven look like a Candyland version of "What Dreams May Come.
" You'll either find Nicky's voice distinct (in Sandler terms) or annoyingly strange. Too irreverent and misguiding for my tastes, or for any fellow believer's. Definitely not for kids or the easily offended.
